THE LAKE COUNTY MEDICAL ALLIANCE has for 61 years raised funds for allied health scholarships, awarding the first $100 to a nursing student in 1949. The Scholarship Committee receives applications after January of each year. Awards are based on a balance of academic talent and need. The deadline for submission is March 31.

Depending on eligibility, students may apply for two separate scholarships, both for allied health studies/programs.

The LCMA undergraduate scholarship is awarded to Lake County residents in an undergraduate program in health-related studies. Currently $1000/year, it is renewable for up to four years but must be reapplied for each succeeding year. Since 1973 the LCMA has awarded more than $174,000 to deserving Lake County students.

The Carla M.. Stallworth, MD, Scholarship
, which the LCMA administers, is available to Lake Health team members (employees) who are continuing their education in a health-related program and who agree to continue employment at Lake Health for the equivalent of one year (2080 hours) after receiving the award. The late Carla Stallworth, a pathologist at Lake Health from 1982 to 2000, was highly regarded for her professional excellence and human character. As someone who overcame great obstacles to achieve a goal, she is commemorated by a scholarship established by colleagues and friends at Lake Health.
