Recently the American Medical Association commissioned a
nationwide survey to find out if Americans support medical liability
reform at the federal level. The survey was conducted by Public
Opinion Strategies/Frederick Polls and showed that 73 percent of
American voters support comprehensive medical liability reform. This
survey confirms that Americans support federal legislation because they
are concerned about rising health care costs and access to quality care.
This survey also supports what the President continues to emphasize—a
medical liability crisis is threatening our nation's healthcare system,
and the only way to stop this crisis is for Congress to pass
common-sense medical liability reform now.
Help pass this important legislation and stand with patients and
physicians across America. Tell your Members of Congress that you and
your family deserve better.

The American Medical Association and the Ohio State Medical
Association Urge Physicians and Patients to Help Stop the Proposed
Medicare Reimbursement Cuts.
The AMA and OSMA are encouraging both
physicians and the public to contact their Federal legislators to
support H.B. 2356 which addresses revision of the outdated Sustainable
Growth Rate (SGR) reimbursement Medicare formula. Presently the state of
Ohio risks loosing $5 billion in Medicare physician service
reimbursement fees over the next 6 years if the SGR Formula is not
changed. This may adversely impact Medicare patients' access to care.
